Thursday 28th

Wow! Check out the scores today!  Gee Deanne, did the computer like you?! Lucky we aren't sending the scores to golflink. We actually used the rain and the cancelled comp to practise both the 2Ball aggregate event and the use of the scanner inside the club. The good news is that both worked but of course the scores are fabricated. This means that in future, on Thursdays, we will ask all players to  bring their cards into the club and scan them, checking scores as we used to do, just outside the golf office. No scanning will happen on Thursdays in the pro shop until further notice.  Don't forget that the timesheet for our Opening Day on Thursday 11th Feb, is available this afternoon. You will note that we have been allowed to have a shotgun start on this day. Also, those playing in the District Opening Day should be able to see your times from early next week.

9 hole results + a little info for next week.

It was such a nice day that only 5 ladies chose to play 9 holes today. Congratulations to Noela Hilbert with the winning score of 17 points. We haven't seen her much in recent times but she hasn't forgotten how to play. Well done Noela! Don't forget to collect your ball! I will mention again that if you opt to play only 9 holes, you will be given an old or social card and it is up to you to put both your name and handicap on the card. We have got a bit too used to relying on the computer to do this for us!!  Of course we are coming towards the end of our Summer Comp. Next Thursday you will be able to enter your teams for our Opening Day Team of 4 Countdown Stableford, on 11th February. So make sure you are organised. We are even hoping that we may be able to have a Shotgun Start. More details on that to come soon. Regards, Jenny for the Committee.

Bob Whittle's Funeral

As you will be aware Bob Whittle's funeral is tomorrow Friday 22nd January at Greenway Chapel. With the limited number of people attending allowed, the Breakers Club is going to live stream the service. It will be in the Function Room downstairs and a special dispensation for early entry from about 9:45am has been given to allow for a 10 am start. There will be some copies of the Order of Service available.

9 hole comp 14th January

There were also some great scores in the 9 hole comp today. The star of the day with 22 points  was Min Corner! Congratulations Min!! No-one is surprised!  Balls also went to Rita Worling  and Chris Baddack, who both had 20 points. PLEASE NOTE re: 9 hole summer comp.... If you choose to play nine holes, you will receive an old, or social card. It is your responsibility to put your name and handicap on this card. You also need to sign the card and name your marker in the marker's place. Otherwise, your card is invalid!

Results Thursday 14th January

Another hot and sticky day but some amazing scores were had.  Congratulations to Linda Ball who had 40 points. The nine hole comp has not been finished as Mollie is our official checker for those cards.   https://portalpreview.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=185120

BOB WHITTLE

We are very sad to report the passing of Bob Whittle. He has been a vital cog in the running of our golf course for many, many years and will be missed greatly.  Many of you will have enjoyed your "weekly meeting" with him as you were finishing and he was starting. He always had  friendly banter.  Even since the passing of his wife, Pat, last year, he has been keen to continue his relationship with the Lady golfers, contributing both money for end of year prizes and numerous golf balls that he collected in his time working on the course to keep it tidy!

Summer Comp 7th January

Not much of a day for golf  today with on again off again showers. There were quite a few ladies who cleverly decided to play 9 holes and a coffee instead of getting caught in the rain. Better luck next week! Well done to Debbie Lorking who was the star today in the 18  hole event with 32 points. Rita Worling had a most impressive 21points in the 9 hole comp. Congratulations!

Important Information about Covid changes at both pro shop and club

Please note that in order to enter the pro shop you MUST have a mask on. This is a government regulation as the pro shop is a retail outlet.  As mentioned in a previous blog,  you must also log in at the pro shop using the Service NSW app. If you are unsure of what to do, ask for assistance from Nicky, committee members or fellow players.  Don't forget to log out when you finish playing. Further log in changes have also just happened when entering the club. Photo recognition as normal is the first step. You will then go to a second page which will ask you to confirm your phone number. If it is correct, press submit and that info goes directly to Service NSW. If your landline number comes up you need to make sure it has the     02 prefix before you press submit. Again, ask if you are unsure and the staff will help. It is a good idea to log out when you leave so that contact tracers will know what times you are in the club. Note also, that a mask is man...
