PAR

It was a Goldilocks day for golf today, not too hot, not too cold, just right! Despite the fact that some people don't love par, the scores were very respectable, remembering that square equates to 36 points. So, Alison starred with +6, which is 42 points!! Hope she put in for the shootout! https://portalpreview.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=155079

Full fields

Hi Ladies, As you may have noticed, the field is totally full for Thursday, with 72 ladies booked in. It is great to see so many wanting to play but it does create a problem. We can't fit any more on the timesheet, and really don't want to, as it would mean extensive delays for all. So, if at any time, you would like a game, but can't fit on the timesheet, please check your portal regularly for any cancellations. On the morning of play, ring the pro shop to see if there may be any late cancellations. Also, to assist with this, if you plan to cancel, please do so as early as possible. Of course, the other issue is that the fields will only move as quickly as the slowest players so, again, please make EVERY effort to keep up with the group in front. Thanks, Committee

Well we tried! Some people tried harder than others, but did look rather bedraggled and discombobulated when they came in after slogging their way through 18 holes. Most of the wimps went home. The good news is that it was amazingly dry underfoot. In fact, it was very hard to believe after the pictures we all saw just a few days ago. It was just the stuff that was coming down from the sky that turned us off. The decision was made to enter all scores into the computer as it is the start of our Continuous Comp and so the eclectic scores deserved to be recorded. Also, since we all paid our money and started, the scores had to be sent to Golflink. Fortunately, they will be recorded as Stableford, which doesn't sound quite as bad as the nett results on the portal. Congratulations to Wendy Fox for a fabulous score of 67 nett. Runner up was Di Connolly with 73. Janice Adlard won the gross over the field with 95. Monthly medals went to Di Ind, Wendy Fox and Denise Newman.

Course update

Jenny kindly walked the course to get an idea of what the conditions are like, and we have very good news.......... there is no casual water and to give you an idea the 1st fairway isn’t wet under foot. So we will see you all in the morning.

Opening Day

We hope you are all looking forward to the start of our golfing season this Thursday, 6th February. There is lots happening on this day so here are some reminders.... 1. It is a Shotgun Start, 7-7.30 . The event is a Countdown Stableford so please just record one score on Par 3s, two scores on Par 4s and three scores on Par 5s. This will make it easier for card checkers as this event does not go on the computer. 2. There is a very full field , with at least two groups off every tee. It's great to welcome so many people but please do everything you can to keep the field moving. For example, pick up as soon as you can't beat your partners' scores . If there is a gap in front of your group, send two players to tee off before the others have finished putting to attempt to catch up. (Did you see Bryson de Chambeau given a time warning for taking 83 seconds to play a shot?! That's more than twice the time allowed in the rules.) 3. We are hoping to take a group pho...

World Handicap System

Image
The World Handicap System has now been introduced.  Many of you will note that your GA handicap has increased slightly, although the higher handicaps have increased by up to four or five shots. When you look at the timesheet for Thursday on the Members Portal, you will see that some ladies have GA handicaps higher than 45. That is correct and will continue to happen. However, at our course, they will still play off a Daily Handicap of 45 maximum. Also, if you played today, you will see that the Daily Handicap calculations are slightly different.  Following is the new Daily Handicap Look-Up chart for the Breakers Ladies course. Just look at your GA handicap and it will show you what Daily Handicap you will play off at Breakers. Note that for many of us, the Daily Handicap will actually be lower than the GA. This is part of the new system and is correct. Remember, you don't have to do this yourself. Your new handicap will appear on your card so you...
