Summer Comp

Image
2020 is almost here and so it is time for our Summer Comp, which will take place every Thursday in January. All days are already open for you to enter on both the kiosks in the club and on the members portal. Reminders This year will be much the same as last year. You can choose to play 9 holes or 18. Just let the Pro shop know when you pay. It will be $12 for both 9 or 18. If you choose 18, your score will be sent to Golflink. Balls will be given to the top third in both comps , with one NTP on the 2nd hole (not the 11th) for everyone. Vouchers will be presented on Opening Day in February to the point score winners in both comps. Please note that balls expire after 3 months so don't forget to check if you need to collect them. Happy New Year and good golfing in 2020.

UPDATED Further...

1. Points on your members card. As you are all aware, any points on your members card, including golf winnings up to today, will expire on 31st December. If you still have some on your card, or won money yesterday for example, make sure you have either spent them or moved them to your Pearl Rewards card before the end of the year. However, there will be a little leeway.  A ny money won from tomorrow, will not be added to your card until January 2nd , so if you happen to win next Saturday, that money won't expire this year. 2. Judy McCristal We have had the sad news that one of our lady members, Judy McCristal (aka Judy Holmes)  has passed away after a long battle with a blood disorder. I'm sure many of you will remember her as she had been a member for many years but spent a lot of time travelling once she retired. Her health also meant that she wasn't able to play 18 holes in recent times but always hoped to get back to it. Judy's funeral will be held at Mac...

It's A Wrap!!

Image
Wow what a great day celebrating 2019. Congratulations to all our winners. It was so nice to see the surprise on so many of your faces with unexpected prizes. We have received some wonderful feedback from many ladies about how enjoyable the day was. So thank you for your support. The committee would like to wish everybody a wonderful and safe Christmas🎄🎅 and we are looking forward to another year with you all in 2020. Here are some photos from yesterday's celebrations.

MEMORIAL STONE

Image
It was great to see so many people make their way to the memorial stone near the second tee this morning to mark the passing of two of our long serving lady committee members, Jill King and Pat Whittle. Jill's grandson, Matthew represented the King family and, of course, Bob was there to honour his wife as their names were added to the stone. Unfortunately, we have recently heard news of the passing of another of our Life Members, Paddy Hearn. Her funeral will be held at 11am on Monday 16th December, at Star of the Sea, Serpentine Road, Terrigal for those who may wish to attend.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!!!!!!

That last post about Di Rudd was all correct. Yes she did come 4th overall in Division 3. However, there were several sections and SHE WON 18 HOLES NETT BRONZE MEDAL, THIRD, COUNTRY DIVISION. Here she is receiving her prize and showing off our new club shirt, which had lots of positive comments as well. FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT DI. CONGRATULATIONS FROM US ALL.

Di Rudd at State Final

Image
Congratulations to Di Rudd who competed today in the State Final of the GNSW medal. Her score of 82 nett was impressive on a very challenging course, placing her 4th in Division 3. Thanks to her caddy, Charmaine, who reports that Di thoroughly enjoyed the experience and thought the course was interesting. Check out all the goodies she's coming home with. Something for us all to aspire to next year!

BREAKERS COUNTRY CLUB CHARITY DONATION

Image
On Monday the Central Coast Women's Golf Association (CCWGA) held their annual Executive Day at Breakers, with all committees attending.     We were very pleased to welcome Julie Wicks who spoke about the work of  Lifeline Direct, the District Charity we have selected for 2020 on behalf of the CCWGA.  This is a local charity which provides much needed support for families affected by mental health and suicide.     A huge thankyou must go to Breakers Country Club who have kick-started the donations by presenting a cheque for $500 to Julie during her visit.

Kathy Porter

Image
As many of you will be aware, Kathy Porter was taken to hospital by ambulance during play yesterday. This message from Kathy shows what a very brave and positive lady she is. It also shows how well everyone responded. All the best from us all Kathy. Am very fortunate everyone acted so quickly as apparently I had a major heart attack and had three stents in one major completely blocked artery and another stent in the other major artery which was blocked 90%. Would you please thank Vicky and girls for looking after me. I am indebted to Nicki for  her professional attention as well as her thoughtfulness. We are lucky to have her as our Pro. I was told that any further delay would not have had a good outcome. A real bummer as I was actually playing quite well even with the terrific heart pain!  Gives me hope for when I come back to golf

Christmas Closing Day

Image
Great day, shame about the weather. Despite the smoke, almost everyone chose to play in the final event of the year, which was a 2BBB All Ways. As usual, many teams went to a lot of trouble to look the part.     Congratulations to Di Rudd, with a spectacular score of 42 points. Her teammates all managed to improve her score on several holes to dominate the 2 Ball scores. Good luck to Di next Wednesday as she competes in the State Final of the GNSW medal at Stonecutters Ridge. She's certainly in form. Let's hope she hasn't peaked too soon. 🤞🤞 . https://portalpreview.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=141155 https://portalpreview.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=145322 There was lots of fun afterwards with both the Christmas raffle and Kris Kringle. Thanks especially to Ione and Colleen for organising this and I guess mention must be made of Michelle Collyer's efforts to speed up pl...

Upcoming Events

This week is our Christmas Special Day...Shotgun start at 7.30. Please be early, all dressed for Christmas. Remember that the event is an individual stableford, which will be handicapped. The 2BBB all ways will be worked out on the computer so you don't have to worry about that. Just mark your individual cards as per usual. The 2BBB is the main event, individual prizes will be across the field. Normal NTPs in divisions, not team prizes. There will be no normal raffle but please make use of the sandwich order as we will all be in together. IT IS AN EXTREMELY LARGE  FIELD SO PLEASE DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO SPEED UP PLAY AND BRING YOUR CHRISTMAS SPIRIT (not spirits!!!) WITH YOU. After play, we have our special Christmas raffle where everyone gets a free ticket and all will win a prize. Later, we have our Kris Kringle. If you wish to take part in this, you need to bring a suitable (serious or fun) gift, wrapped, to the value of about $10. Next week, ...
