Remember Breakers ladies this was our charity of choice and what an amazing job we and the district have done raising much needed funds. 👏👏👏 Women golfers raise $25,000 for Lifeline Julie Wicks from Lifeline receiving a $10,000 cheque from Gay Saines and Jenny Chapman of the CCWGA AUGUST 27, 2021 GOLF – The Central Coast Womens Golf Association (CCWGA) has raised a whopping $25,000 for Lifeline over the past 12 months. The 10 golf clubs on the Central Coast are all members of the association, with ladies at each club organising events to raise funds for the district charity and also running raffles to boost the donation. An CCWGA spokesperson said Lifeline had been chosen as the district charity in 2020 and this has been extended into 2021 with COVID-19 restrictions leading to many fundraisers being cancelled. “Lifeline does an amazing job on the Central Coast supporting people with mental health related challenges, and since early last year when COVID-19 first became an issue, the

We have good news!!

Hello all lady members. You may or may not have heard some news going around that the ladies were approached by the club to reduce our playing time and therefore our best option was to go with the 9 hole competition like the men. Your committee has been busy holding Zoom meetings to see what was best for all our members. We decided to write a letter to Ken and the club board seeking consideration to allow a time slot on the course to allow us to play 18 holes. The board held a meeting on Wednesday night for our letter to be discussed. Following a Zoom meeting yesterday afternoon we are pleased to announce we were successful with only a 15min loss of time. So to best explain we now have the course from 7am till 11:30am. We are starting earlier to utilise the course at a time it is least used. From next Thursday you will notice the different booking times available for the two sessions. Please remember we will be under review if we are not meeting the expectations of our finishing times.

SECRET PARTNER 26th August

Well, I wasn't surprised to read the blog about the course being a bit wet. The scores reflected that and the 4Ball aggregate scores were not as high as in previous weeks.  Once again, it seems some people appear to be destined to have a lucky pick nearly every week, particularly Viv, Gill and Sue Connor. Mind you, it also means that they have played well nearly every week. Also, the universe put the Sandras together again! Amazing, considering there are only two! The winners today  were Sheryn Fuller and Merrilyn Le Quesne with 67 points Second place to Gill Wilson and Linda Ball with 65. Third were Di Laws and Viv Ball with 63 on a countback  Fourth place went to Michelle Hughes  and Sue Connor, 63. After that, all non ball winners went into a hat and the lucky card winner was....  Jan Gee! Balls will be posted to all of these winners. Cheers, Jenny  (on behalf of your Committee and keeping me happily involved while I am not playing.)

Yet another sunny day for our golfing! Yes, the course was a bit wet in places, but we did need the rain. Hopefully the run will be back next week. Slow play is once again becoming an issue. If you keep up with the group in front, not stay ahead of the group behind, this will make a huge difference.  If you think you may have lost your ball, then hit a provisional before looking for it. This could save walking back to hit another from the first spot after the 3 minutes you're allowed to look for that first ball. Anyone who has golf balls to collect can do so now at the Pro Shop. Remember, they automatically drop off after 90 days. If you have had any drop off during lock down Nicky has a list and you can collect them as well. Don't forget that Click and Collect is also available for all your other golfing needs. Just send an email to breakersproshop@gmail.com at least before close of business Wednesday with your order (preferably a little earlier) and it will be ready for y

Jess Tame

Image
Many of you will have heard the sad news that one of our patrons, Jess Tame passed away peacefully at her Erina nursing home last Monday, aged 101. Jess was a  member of Terrigal Golf Club from the early 70s, with her husband Bill. They lived in Dover Road, not far from the club, and were willing helpers when it was very useful in the early days of development.  She served on the committee at times and was made a patron in 1995. Jess enjoyed her work assisting the social committee for many, many years. She will be remembered by many Saturday golfers as one of those who helped with cards prior to the computer system taking over. Jess's name will be added to the memorial stone when possible.

Hi everyone,  Well another beautiful day to play golf. A reminder to all our players that is it your responsibility to follow all the Covid-19 protocols whilst you are at Breakers. Any breaches are your responsibility and any penalties are given to the individual, not the Club. Let's all stay safe and keep ourselves playing golf! On a more pleasant note: We have lots of birthdays to celebrate for the first 3 weeks of August Rita Worling on Monday 2nd, Helen Ingle on Tuesday 3rd, Chun Kim on Wednesday 4th, Denise Newman and Merilyn Le Quesne on Friday 6th, Michelle Hughes on Saturday 7th, Sandra Kunze on Sunday 8th, Julie Taylor on Thursday 12th, Cheryl Baker on Wednesday 18th. A very special Happy Birthday to our lovely professional Nicky Henderson on Friday 13th.  Hope those boys looked after you on your special day!! Here are today's prize winners. Wait List

Image
Could any lady that was on the wait list please check the portal to see if you have been allocated a tee booking for tomorrow and I suggest for those left on it please check in the morning again. The last couple of weeks we have had to chase up players as they haven't checked the portal. If a lady is left on their own this means they can't play. Please be mindful of this.

SECRET PARTNER 12th August

Once again, I ran a secret partner 2 ball aggregate today, with assistance from Mum, Mollie. Wow Viv! How good are you at getting a secret partner.  Again this week you are the winner, with Nancy Carey-Berryman on 72 points. 2nd place (equal on 67 points) were Peggy Searle and Janice Adlard; and Gill Wilson and Denise Newman. You were the lucky one Gill to get Denise as a partner, with her great score today!!! Final Mystery Partner ball winners today were Sue Connor and Bronwyn Dwyer with 66 on a CB. Those of you who didn't play well will be pleased to know that not all scores appear here so you don't have to apologise to your partner. However, I note today that if your name was Kerry, your partner was Kerrie and if your name was Sandra, your partner was Sandra. Total coincidence! From this week I will be adding a new prize....lucky card. This again is done totally randomly, not necessarily given to last place! We just  put all names that didn't win anything into a hat and

SECRET PARTNER AGGREGATE STABLEFORD 5TH AUGUST

As you will have read on the blog recently, I am now running a secret partner comp each week. The 4 pairs (8 ladies) with the best aggregate scores will each receive a ball which will be posted to their accounts. NOTE that the balls could not be posted in bulk from the comp today but we have managed to post those ones individually as well so you should see them on the portal as well, if you won a ball today. I can assure you that the draw was done totally randomly out of a hat, literally! What chance that one random pair actually played together! More amazingly, what chance that it was your Captain and your Vice Captain!!! Boy that was going to look suspicious I thought, until the scores came in!!! Congratulations to the following winning secret pairs. 1st  Viv Ball and Cheryl Baker  74 2nd  Rhonda Boothman and Gai Catanzariti  73 Equal third   Jackie Ritchie and Karen Gallaher  68        Veneice Higgin  and Di Rudd 68 Hope you enjoyed this bit of fun, to take the place of balls for N

Results Thursday 5th August

Afternoon everyone, Firstly, in the mix of all the birthdays I mentioned last week there was a very special one. Dee Dimond turned 80!! We'll celebrate this when we all get together again. But perhaps you might wish Dee Happy Birthday next time you see her on the course.  It's so wonderful that we have so many ladies who are still playing golf with us well into their 80's. Now onto all the results.  https://portalpreview.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=216344 There were some spectacular scores again today!! Well done to those ladies who had great games today. Fancy being beaten when you had 40 points. Never mind Debbie, it was on a countback. The 11:30 group did have a slight glitch in the proceedings as the green keepers didn't realise that we were still playing and removed the tee markers and put sprinklers on after we'd finished 9 holes. They were eventually reinstated and the sprinklers turned off, but in the great scheme of things

Match Committee Report from Our Zoom Meeting

Image
Hi to all our lady members. Your match committee had a zoom meeting yesterday 3rd August at 5pm to discuss a number of things. Firstly we would all like to thank you for the support and understanding with all the changes and introduction of new rules to the way we conduct our competitions during this lockdown. We are happy with the way it is running and glad a high percentage of members are getting a game each week. Last week we only had 3 left on the waiting list who didn't get a game. As mentioned in the last blog these ladies were given automatic entry for this week. So again a reminder if you miss out on booking a time slot please put your name on the wait list. Ladies Championships have been moved to September 30th and the 7th and 14th October. We will have an entry sheet in the Pro Shop from the 2nd September. This is, of course, pending no further changes to lockdown. Stableford Shootout:  we have made the decision to cancel this event for the year which was due to be play
