VALE JOAN O'CONNELL

Image
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Joan O'Connell, AO.  Many of you will recall her as one of the Saturday ladies who worked hard every week at Breakers, checking cards and organising prize sheets prior to computers taking over! Of course her contribution to golf administration was much more significant. She was captain and president of Breakers ladies golf club and also at Gosford in earlier years. She was one of the founding members of the CCWGA in 1980 and remained part of that district committee for the rest of her life, in numerous roles including that of Life Member. Joan was also a very hard-working member of GNSW, particularly in her role on the course rating committee. She spent numerous years travelling the state to rate courses and assist districts with golfing events. For her wonderful knowledge and contributions, she was awarded an AO in the Australia Day honours list in 2017. We will keep you informed when we know of the funeral arrangemen

What a stunning winter's day on the golf course! Yes, it was cold to start, but the sun shone on us all morning. Congratulations to the winners today - well played. https://portalpreview.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=208363 We have some team games coming up in July. On 8th is a 4BBB, i.e. team of two and on 22nd is our Charity Day, team of 4. It's also a shotgun start, so be prepared to get your teams on when the timesheet opens.

Update

The decision has been made to cancel the comp today.  If you'd like a social game later, ring the pro shop. Keep warm and perhaps see you for a coffee.

Today

Hi Ladies. Not a nice start to the day and some rain looking like it will blow across soon. We are considering delaying play until that passes.  Please ring the pro shop if you intend to cancel so that we can see if we have enough interest for a comp. Your cool committee!

More details are available on the Breakers website or app. We encourage as many of you as possible to attend the Information Session for members which will be held at Breakers this Wednesday 9th June at 6.30pm.  This session will be presented by Dale Hunt, Mounties Group CEO. Come along so you can hear for yourself what is involved and what it means for the future. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions or raise any concerns you may have. Please register your interest in attending by contacting the club's reception in advance.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

As you are undoubtedly aware, our membership fees are due by the end of June. You can use any money you put on your Pearl card to pay some of this,  if you want to.  To do so, you have to check how much money you have on the card first by using the pink card reader near the entry to the Pokies. You will need to know your four digit pin to do so. You need to tell whoever is on the front desk this amount before you pay and again, you need to enter your four digit pin to pay. You can then pay the rest by cash or card. However, you cannot use points that are on your membership card to pay your fees.    One option is to transfer your points to your Pearl card, if you set one up earlier. In order to do so, you need to remember your four digit pin. On the other hand,  you can  use your points to pay for things in the pro shop, or to buy drinks or food in the club. While mentioning renewal of membership, don't forget to tell the club office if you have had any changes of personal details s
