MEMBER NUMBERS AND GOLFLINK NUMBERS

Hi Ladies, I have been asked quite a few questions lately about our new Mounties member numbers and whether our Golflink numbers will change, so I just want to clarify a few things. Firstly, you will be aware that your new Mounties number, the number on your Membership card, is very similar to your previous Breakers number. Some people have been saying that you just add an 8 to the front but this is not true in all cases. The fact is that the Mounties number is 6 numbers in total , so if your original number had 5 digits, such as 23417, then it is now 823417. But if you originally had 4 digits, such as 1482 then you add 80 and it is now 801482. And again, if yours was only 3 digits, then you add 800 so 342 would become 800342 As for our golflink numbers, they will stay the same as they were .  Golflink numbers are always 10 digits long , starting with the Breakers prefix of 20805 then your original Breakers member number with zeros at the start, if necessary, to make 5 digits after th

Foursomes POSTPONED

Hi ladies the Foursomes to be held next Thursday have been postponed till the Reserve Day in the fixtures book 1st September. We will hold your entry money till then unless you know you can't play and we can organise to get your $4 back to you. This decision was made by your match committee due to the course conditions. Next week will now be playing stableford and booking in will be at the usual time 3pm.

Information for tomorrow 28th April

Image
Afternoon ladies, we have walked the course and have decided to change the event to Stableford  due to the course being very wet, muddy and extremely heavy under foot. To play stroke would be very long and not much fun. See you inside and don't forget we are taking final entries for the Foursomes being held on the 5th May.

TWO REMINDERS

RULE REMINDER Accidentally touching your ball as you take a practice swing or as you are lining up to play your shot. *If this happens on the putting green , there is no penalty but the ball must be replaced on its original spot, which if not known for sure, must be estimated.  (Rule 13.1d) *If this happens in the teeing area , and the ball falls off the tee, it can be re-teed anywhere in the teeing area without penalty . (Rule 6.2b(5)) *If this happens elsewhere on the course , there is a one stroke penalty and the ball must be replaced on its original spot (Rule 9.4b) So, players should take care when near any ball at rest.  (Purpose of Rule 9) CHANGE OF PERSONAL DETAILS REMINDER If you have had any change of personal details such as phone number, address or email, it is necessary to let both the club office know, as well as the committee, as the two computer systems are separate. We need to change these details within the Micropower system. Cheers, Jenny

Golf at last

The weather finally behaved itself on a Thursday and 35 ladies hit off. Most were surprised at how much the course had dried out. Mind you, it helped that the tees were short! There were some good scores, particularly Sally with 38! https://golf.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=245326 Don't forget that foursomes entries after golf next Thursday. You can get in touch with Michelle if you aren't going to be here next week. Remember you need a partner and you each pay $4 for the 27 hole event. If you only wish to play in the day event, advise Michelle as you will still need to be in the draw, but no championship entry fee is needed for that.

Please note!

Our ladies foursomes is on 5th May. The entry form will be available from tomorrow. Entry is $4pp. This is a 27hole event and we will run an 18 hole day event. Please amend your calendar: Gwen Thompson Shield has been moved from 5th Sept to 19th Sept. We now have a new white board attached to the pro shop which will have all the conditions of play and information that you need to know for the days event. Our Debbie Gaunt qualifier has not been rescheduled at this stage as we are awaiting for advise from the club. Please note our winter tee bookings start from 7:30am - 9:29am The mixed foursomes is now on the 14th May and a new entry sheet is available. Please note the old entry sheet has been discarded.

RULE OF THE WEEK - FREE RELIEF FROM IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTION

Image
Rule 16-Free Relief In recent weeks, I have mentioned this rule in relation to GUR, embedded ball and temporary water.  It also applies to immovable obstructions. So, lets start by checking the definition of an immovable obstruction. Any obstruction (an artificial object that is not an integral part of the course or a boundary) that cannot be moved without unreasonable effort or without damaging the course, and otherwise does not meet the definition of a movable obstruction.  Different courses define immovable obstructions, and GUR, in different ways so it is always important to check the local rules to see what the definitions are at the course you are playing.  To remind you of our definitions, I have copied the local rules on the back of our card for your information. For the purposes of this rule, immovable obstructions and GUR are very similar, as you get a free drop from both If your ball is on any of these objects, or they are in the way of either your swing or stance, then

Breaking News!

Well 50mls of rain last night on top of  the past months rainfall has the course CLOSED today. With further forecast rain your match committee has decided to go with plan B. The comp is off tomorrow! However lets have a social day as we have lots of Easter prizes to give away! So please come at 10:30am for coffee and  bring your money for the raffles. Lots of chocolate bunnies to give away so be there!  While you're here at the club make the effort to go and collect your balls from the pro shop and have a browse for something to buy. If anyone has any blankets they would like to donate for a delivery being made to flood victims please bring them in for Marnie to collect.

EVERGLADES DEATH BY CHOCOLATE RESULTS

Qualifier Off but single stableford on

Hi Ladies, With a bit of early rain and the forecast still not good, the match committee have decided to postpone the Debbie Gaunt qualifying event to a date to be fixed. However, some of you may wish to play so there will be a single stableford event on instead. This will allow you to make your own decision as to whether you wish to brave the conditions. Also, if you didn't have a partner, you can now ring the pro shop and put your name down if you feel the need for a hit. See you later anyway. Match Committee

Debbie Gaunt Qualifier Tomorrow Thur 7th

Image
Hi ladies the match committee will not make any decision till tomorrow morning as to whether the event will go ahead. If the weather predicted does happen and the match committee see fit to postpone the event this will be done early tomorrow morning before the first group tees off at 7:35am. If the event is postponed we will run an individual stableford event in it's place. Also for our Easter Novelty event for the following week tee bookings will be available from 3pm as per usual. I suggest organising 1 person from your team to add each person as a group booking. Fingers crossed the golf god's kick in and hold the weather prediction off till tomorrow arvo 🙏🏌

RULE OF THE WEEK --- TEEING AREA

Please be aware that each of the rules I have been highlighting  have come up in play this year. If you want to add to my list just let me know and I'll do my best to check and clarify them.  I have been asked 3 different issues regarding THE TEEING AREA in recent times so let's begin with the definition. THE TEEING AREA is a rectangle that is two club-lengths deep where: * The front edge is defined by the line between the forward-most points of two tee-markers set by the Committee, and  *The side edges are defined by the lines back from the outside points of the tee-markers. Rules related to the Teeing Area are only relevant to the teeing area of the hole you are playing. If you land on the teeing area of a hole you are not currently playing, it is considered part of the general area. Rule 6.2 Playing Ball from the Teeing Area 1. The player may stand outside the teeing area in making a stroke at a ball in the teeing area. 2. The ball may be teed or played from the ground in
