RULE OF THE WEEK --- TEEING AREA

Please be aware that each of the rules I have been highlighting  have come up in play this year. If you want to add to my list just let me know and I'll do my best to check and clarify them.

I have been asked 3 different issues regarding THE TEEING AREA in recent times so let's begin with the definition.

THE TEEING AREA is a rectangle that is two club-lengths deep where:

* The front edge is defined by the line between the forward-most points of two tee-markers set by the Committee, and

*The side edges are defined by the lines back from the outside points of the tee-markers.

Rules related to the Teeing Area are only relevant to the teeing area of the hole you are playing. If you land on the teeing area of a hole you are not currently playing, it is considered part of the general area.

Rule 6.2 Playing Ball from the Teeing Area

1. The player may stand outside the teeing area in making a stroke at a ball in the teeing area.

2. The ball may be teed or played from the ground in the teeing area (ie. It doesn't have to be teed up!)

3. The location of the tee-markers is set by the Committee to define each teeing area and should remain in that same location for all players who will play from that teeing area.

4. If a teed ball falls off the tee or is knocked off the tee by the player before the player has made a stroke at it, it may be re-teed anywhere in the teeing area, without penalty.

5. If the player's ball is in play in the teeing area  after a stroke (such as an airswing, or the ball just being touched) the player may lift or move the ball without penalty and play that ball or another ball from anywhere in the teeing area from a tee or the ground. ( This was a definite change in 2019)

Fingers crossed for Thursday's weather. Not looking positive at this stage.

Cheers,

Jenny
