MYSTERY PARTNER 30th September

Well it was interesting combining the two scores in par for each pair today. eg +2 -5 = -3, -8 + 2 = -6, -10-9 = -19  .....  not too many pluses to add together!!! In fact, there weren't any pairs who both had pluses. However we did manage one pair without a minus...... Mary Strada (square)  and Andrea Leal (+2) were the stars with an aggregate score of +2.  In second place we have two "squares"! Gill Wilson and Jeanice Gibson  for an obvious total of square, on a countback. 3rd goes to Julie Taylor and Sue Connor, also on a total of square. 4th place goes to Cheryl Baker and Colleen Henry with a total of -2. LUCKY CARD went to YVONNE BROOKER!!! Balls will be posted to all these winners.  Good luck with the mystery draw for next week, which will be a TEAM of FOUR!!! Cheers, Jenny and Mollie

Well! That was Par! There were some good scores as you would expect with the run still there and the sun shining all day. Don't get down on par events, the worst score you can get is 18 points if you wipe every hole. https://golf.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=221474 Some reminders for the next few weeks: *Michelle is still taking entries for the Championships. Last day to enter is next Thursday. $5 for the three weeks and $3 for the Vets two weeks. Money in an envelope and name on the sheet in the Pro Shop. *There will be no Medley competition for the next two Saturdays, 9th and 16th October. The men are having their championships on those days. There will be social play available after 3 pm. *Once the Pro Shop opens fully we will have to scan our own cards. Nicky, A. J., Jenny and others have been manually entering our cards every week during lockdown (and forgiving our mistakes.) Once the scanner is back in use, you will be responsible for your sc

Update from the Match Committee

Your match committee met yesterday morning to discuss a few things. We have decided to stop the continuous comp and award our winners with the events already played. We went over our reports and decided we have enough games and events played to award our winners. This decision was made on the ever changing playing conditions and the number of ladies who are able to get a game. Yes we have managed to make adjustments to the tee booking sheet to allow the 9 ladies who were on the waitlist this week to be added. However there are still a number of our lady members who are still unable to play each week. The calendar we updated last week will remain the same. The CCWGA has announced that the Champions day on the 25th Oct and the 2 day Tournament on the 8th and 9th Nov have both been cancelled. When booking in on the portal, if you need to add your name to the waitlist please adjust the times so it will allow you to be added. If you can play in the vaccinated time slots you must adjust the

Booking Procedures Updated

Social golf hasn't changed as you can still only play in two's so all golf members can book in using the portal.

Third were Di Laws and Sue Tierney with 73 c/b, followed by Rhonda Boothman and Gai Catanzariti, also on 73.  Another glorious day in paradise on the golf course. Fantastic scores today from Veneice and Vicki!! https://golf.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=220398 I was having a look today at the time gaps between groups finishing their 18 holes. Since the groups started 5 minutes apart, you would expect them to finish around the same time apart and nearly all did. Some were 4, others 6 or 7, but the stand out was a 12 minute time gap. This means that the pair had really lost more than two timeslots, which is possible if one of them got into trouble. But it really isn't fair to the groups following. Please try to keep up with the group in front and if you can't, allow the following group to play through. As you are aware next week, 30th, is the first week back playing in fours for those who are fully vaccinated. The number of timeslots available will be adjusted according to need in the following weeks. Please be patient as it is new to us and Nicky too! T

FURTHER BOOKING DETAILS

We have had some questions relating to booking times for next Thursday, 30th September, so we will attempt to clarify this further. 1. Please note that bookings will open as usual at 5pm this Thursday for next week for all those who have shown evidence of double vaccination. You will be able to play in groups of four from 7am to 8.24am. This may not allow all players to get a spot, as it is limited to 52 ladies. If you miss out here, please add your name to the waitlist. Hopefully further spots may become available as this is a work in progress. 2. For those who are unvaccinated, you still have the option to book in from 5pm but you will need to ring the pro shop to do so, or Michelle on 04003778855. There will be 8 tee spots for you from 8.35am to 8.50am and you will play in groups of two. At this point, vaccinated players cannot book into these timeslots. 3.  NOTE TO ALL.... All players, both vaccinated playing in groups of 4, and unvaccinated playing in groups of 2, will be playi

This will allow 52 ladies to play. For any lady who isn't fully vaccinated you can book in by phone for 8:35am-8:50am in two's. EMAILING PROOF OF VACCINATION CERTIFICATES

We are pleased to note that over 50 ladies have already emailed their vaccination certificates to the club.  Please be aware that changes to membership categories will be made very soon and will most likely be in place this Thursday afternoon.  If you are double vaccinated please ensure that you send your certificate asap to info@breakerscc.com or you may miss out on an appropriate timeslot for the following week. We are working on just exactly what these new rules will entail regarding competitions and timeslots, and will let you know as soon as decisions are finalised. Watch this space!! From your committee

FUNERAL DETAILS - CHARLES HENDERSON

Image
Many of you have asked for details of the funeral for Charles. It is being held on Wednesday at 2pm, at Greenway Chapel, Kincumber but, with Covid restrictions, only family will be in attendance. In order to watch the service, you can google Greenway Scheduled  Funerals.  It is already there, so simply scroll down to his name, and you simply click on WATCH THE SERVICE about 5 minutes before the commencement time. Alternatively, the video of the service will be uploaded the next day and will be available to view for 10 days.

A letter from the Club

Image
Morning ladies you will of all received this email from the club. It is important to read the information because it needs to be responded to. If you have any enquiries or queries please forward them to the club. Please use the email given in the email. Dear Golfing member, As you would be aware the NSW Government has eased some restrictions and they are aiming for a 70% fully vaccinated to allow the state to reopen. With this in mind the club is still governed by the rules set by the state government and NSW health and we are still waiting on rulings which will allow us to resume our normal golf competitions and for the reopening of the club. We have been working with Micropower to upgrade a category of membership which will allow us to return to groups of four for golf competitions inline with the changes that were introduced on the 13th September 2021. To assist us with complying with the current restrictions and to allow the golf committee to resume 18 hole competitions we are aski

SECRET PARTNER results 16th September.

Well the first questions to be answered today were.... who got Janice for a partner and did she have enough for them to be in the winners circle for the 4Ball aggregate??? The answers are.... Julie Taylor and YES she did, so that their combined score of 66 was the outright winning score!  The next three places were all on a total of 65, so yet again, we had a tricky countback. Would you believe, all three pairs had the same back nines of 31, so the countback continued to last 6 aggregate. The final winning positions are therefore 1st Janice Adlard and Julie Taylor  66 2nd Di Connolly and Sandra Nash 65 on a countback (with 23 for the last 6) 3rd  Trace O'Meara and Elaine Clarke also on 65 on a countback (with 20 for the last 6) 4th  Jenny Fletcher and Denise Newman on 65 (with 19 for the last 6) LUCKY CARD went to VICKI DUESBURY, for the second time!! How lucky are you! Balls will be posted to all these winners soon. Jenny and Mollie

Hi everyone, Well it was one of those days when you didn’t know if it was really going to rain or just annoy you occasionally. Thankfully it was the latter and everyone managed to get their round in without getting drenched. The scores today indicate that the rain on Tuesday perhaps took the sting out of the fairways and greens. Thanks to everyone today who made a superhuman effort to speed up the pace of play. There were a few little hiccoughs, including Rhonda’s buggy going into the creek, but everyone did really well in keeping up. https://golf.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=219932 Our birthday girls this week are Chris Whalan on Friday 10 th and Brenda Punter on Saturday 11 th . Hope you both had fabulous days! It was wonderful to see all our ladies today decked out in periwinkle along with the ribbons prepared by Michelle lovingly pinned to caps and shirts. Everyone really made an effort to honour Charles.  The donations to North Gosford Onc

A Message From the Henderson Family

Image
Please remember to pick up your ribbon in the Pro shop tomorrow to wear during your round!

Good Weather for Ducks

Image
Yesterday's rain was most definitely appreciated by some, given this view of the practice putting green in the afternoon. Clearly spring has sprung, and this group at least, enjoyed their day. FYI... Many groups of men did manage to play. Although there were a few puddles around, there weren't many complaints and the course probably needed the rain.

EVENTS UPDATE

Considering the uncertainty of golf playing conditions and lockdown ending, we have decided to again defer our championships. When and if there is a change we will let you know as soon as possible. At this stage it is highly unlikely we will be holding our AGM on October 21. When we have further information of availability we will let you know. Your committee.

Ladies Tribute to Charles 'Chas'

Image
Periwinkle  is the colour to represent Stomach Cancer so all ladies playing on Thursday will be provided with a ribbon to wear in honour of Charles 'Chas'. We would also like to encourage you to wear a piece of clothing in those tones if you can.

Latest Issues

Hi Ladies, Those of you who have played the last two Saturdays in the 9 hole comps will note that the two scores have joined together at Golflink to give you an 18 hole score, which may have affected your handicap. Now, if you happen to be one of those players who does better on the first nine you play than the second nine, this can be very interesting! Just ask Kerry Moore who had 20 points last week and a stunning 24 points today. So how has this affected her handicap??  SHE HAS LOST 3.6  AND GONE FROM 47.1 TO 43.5. Now this is exciting as I happen to know her aim has been to get her GA handicap below 45! A huge congratulations Kerry.  There have been a few computer issues this week. Of course the problem with the portal being down at 5pm on Thursday wasn't good. Hopefully this won't happen again.  I note that a few ladies were entered into the comp as social players and their handicaps did not appear. This is very easy to do but needs to be fixed in order to print your card

A COUPLE OF RULES

Firstly, those who played yesterday will have noticed the pile of corings on the right hand side of the 9th/18th fairway. Hopefully, you treated this as GUR, unless your ball was in the penalty area. You can take nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. Secondly, after many comments I heard yesterday, I would like to quote from the rule book!!!! Rule 5 Playing the Round *Play continuously and at a prompt pace during each hole  until your round is completed. 5.6a  Unreasonable Delay of Play You must not unreasonably delay play, either when playing a hole or between two holes.  Penalty for Breach of Rule 5.6a:  * Penalty for first breach: one penalty stroke * Penalty for second breach: General Penalty * Penalty for third breach: Disqualification 5.6b Prompt Pace of Play A round of golf is meant to be played at a prompt pace. Your pace of play is likely to affect how long it will take other players to play their rounds, including both those in your group and those in following grou

SECRET PARTNER 9th September

Wow! The Aggregate scores today were the best so far. In fact, all four winning pairs today would have won every previous week. Not sure if that means the course is really running now, or they were just lucky to combine with another great scorer. Also the countback for 3rd and 4th again tested our brains! Winners today were Colleen Henry and Barbara Holt with 75 terrific points! 2nd were  Gill Wilson (AGAIN!) and Vicki Duesbury with 73 3rd were Veneice Higgin and Andrea Leal  72c/b 4th Chris Baddack and Brenda Punter, also 72 Lucky Card went to one of our pro shop volunteers so karma for you... Charmaine!  Balls will be posted to you all. Jenny and Mollie

What a great day for golf! The run today must have been spectacular as were some of the scores. You had to score better than nett par to win a prize with 11 scores of 37 or more. The balls today went down to 34 on a countback. https://golf.micropower.com.au/breakerscc/competition/prizes?CompetitionId=218803 Everyone managed to tee off on time today, and the changeovers at 10:30 and 1:30 were also managed on time. However, it has been noted that there were groups in the second timeslot who lost three holes. So even though everything looks good, there are still issues with slow play causing bank ups in the field. It is essential that you keep up with the group in front of you! We will be monitoring this over the next few weeks and if this cannot be managed, then we will lose tee times. On a more pleasant note the birthday girls this week are Di Ind on Saturday 4 th and Denise Earthrowl today. Hope you celebrate in style.

MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB

Hi Ladies, Golf has become a very popular sport during the pandemic and this has resulted in the club having made the decision to close golf membership at this time to both new members and any renewing members. Anyone wishing to join now will be put on a waiting list.  This allows those who have been long time members more access to the course and hopefully the recent members will join our weekly competitions once things get back to normal. Of course, a big thankyou goes to those who are assisting in the pro shop at this difficult time. Those who have done so can assure you that we appreciate even more the efforts of Nicky and Chas.  We also wish to thank you, all our members, for your understanding as we learn the big things that are required in the pro shop and the little things that make it run so smoothly. You will have noticed that it takes more than one person to manage the job, something that all the Hendersons can do on their own!! Regards, Jenny,  on behalf of your committee

9 Hole Saturday Comp

Image
All ladies that play on Saturday's please be aware your 9 hole scores will be sent to Golflink as of Saturday 4th September. How it works is your first round of 9 gets held on the system and you can see it, once another 9 hole comp is added they are then joined together to give your new handicap.

SECRET PARTNER RESULTS 2nd September

It was nice to see quite a few new names on the winners list for the Secret Partner today, and it took some time to work out the countbacks, with numerous pairs finishing on 67 aggregate points. The winners were Chris Baddack and Denise Newman on 69 points. 2nd  Michelle Lee and Veneice Higgin 67c/b 3rd  Lynne Cattaway and Di Laws 67 c/b 4th Jan Portelli and Jenny Fletcher also with 67c/b Today's Lucky Card winner was Julie Taylor. Congratulations to all winners. Balls will be posted to all those listed above. Don't forget that you are now able to collect balls you have won so make sure you do before they fall off, which happens after 90 days. Another interesing fact today is that two pairs who played together, were also drawn together and were not far off the winners list!!  These ladies were Kerrie McInerney and Gai Catanzariti; and Chun Kim and Rhonda Boothman.  Nice to catch up with some of you today. 😀 Jenny

Another beautiful day, even though it was a little windy. The scores were really good today, so it looks like the run has come back. The balls went to 33 on a countback. Reports from the course say that the magpie was swooping today, attacking several ladies this morning. So beware as you come down the fifth near the sixth tee. Stay to the right if possible. We have quite a few new ladies joining us on Thursdays. We would like to welcome you to our club and hope that you enjoy playing golf with us. Next week is the first week of the trial 18 hole competition times. The first tee time is now 7 am and we have to be through the front 9 for everyone, which means the later tee times as well, by 1:30 pm. If we cannot do this because of slow play, then the number of timeslots will be reduced accordingly. Your committee fought very hard to maintain our 18 hole competition for 64 ladies, with the results sent through to Golflink, instead of only being able to play 9.  It is every player's
