Opening Day

We hope you are all looking forward to the start of our golfing season this Thursday, 6th February.

There is lots happening on this day so here are some reminders....

1. It is a Shotgun Start, 7-7.30. The event is a Countdown Stableford so please just record one score on Par 3s, two scores on Par 4s and three scores on Par 5s. This will make it easier for card checkers as this event does not go on the computer.

2. There is a very full field, with at least two groups off every tee. It's great to welcome so many people but please do everything you can to keep the field moving. For example, pick up as soon as you can't beat your partners' scores. If there is a gap in front of your group, send two players to tee off before the others have finished putting to attempt to catch up. (Did you see Bryson de Chambeau given a time warning for taking 83 seconds to play a shot?! That's more than twice the time allowed in the rules.)

3. We are hoping to take a group photo of those wearing our new shirts (with white or grey bottoms) BEFORE we play so, if you can, please come a little earlier so we can get this done by about 7.15, then people can make their way out onto the course.

4. Since we will all be finishing together, it makes sense to take advantage of the sandwich orders, which will be in the pro shop before play.  There will also be a normal raffle this week so pay early or you might miss out. After play, we will also have a 100 club.

5. Unfortunately, we can't be in our usual room afterwards. We will be in the downstairs Deck Bar area as we were last year. We will again be providing bubbles, orange juice and chocolates for you to enjoy so be on the lookout for these.

6. Those of you who haven't yet paid for the Continuous Comp, or aren't sure what this involves, Deanne and Jeanice will be available to take money and/or explain the events. Costs are $25 for yearly comps, $5 for GNSW medal and $10 for Shootout, which will be held on Thursday 10th September this year.

7. There are still about 23 club shirts left so, if you have been thinking of buying one, there should be an appropriate size or style left. Please see Deanne after play if you are interested. We won't be making a new order until most of these have been purchased.

7. We will be putting in an order for new name badges. If you would like one, please see Jeanice. Badges cost $14.

8. We have already sent four team entries for Everglades Open Charity Day on Tuesday 7th April. The profits will be going to our choice for this year's district Charity...Lifeline Central Coast. The event is a Team of Four 1x2x3. Cost is $35 per person, including morning tea and lunch. It is always a popular day and may fill quickly, so if you would like to enter a team, see Nell this week.

9. We have been taking nominations for District Pennants, which start in March. We will again have two teams. If you are interested, please see Michelle Lee to put your name down if you haven't already done so.

10. Finally, make sure you receive a copy of this year's Fairway News, which our new Captain Michelle Hughes has put together, with lots of useful information for the year. She will also be explaining some important date changes for the Fixture Book.

Fingers crossed that the weather is kind and we can all enjoy a great start to the golfing year.
